Bulk Editing Animals

Save time by updating multiple animals at once. FarmFlo's bulk editing feature lets you make changes to groups of animals in a single action.

When to Use Bulk Editing

Bulk editing is perfect for:

  • Moving multiple animals to a different herd
  • Updating the pasture for a group of animals
  • Recording the same treatment given to multiple animals
  • Changing status for a batch (e.g., marking as sold)
  • Adding the same note to multiple records

How to Bulk Edit

  1. Navigate to the Animals section
  2. Click the Edit Table button in the top right to enter selection mode
  3. Select the animals you want to edit:
    • Click the checkbox next to each animal, or
    • Use the header checkbox to select all visible animals
  4. Click the Bulk Actions button
  5. Choose the action you want to perform
  6. Enter the new value (e.g., select the new herd)
  7. Review the changes and confirm

Available Bulk Actions

  • Move to Herd: Assign selected animals to a different herd
  • Change Status: Update the status of all selected animals
  • Add Treatment: Record a treatment for all selected animals
  • Add Note: Add the same note to all selected animals
  • Export: Export selected animal data

Tips for Bulk Editing

  • Use filters to narrow down the animals you want to edit
  • Double-check your selection before confirming changes
  • Start with a small batch if you're unsure
  • Bulk changes are logged in the activity history
  • You can undo recent bulk changes if needed

Example: Recording Vaccinations

Say you just vaccinated your entire spring calf crop. Instead of adding the treatment to each calf individually:

  1. Filter animals by birth date or herd to show just the calves
  2. Click Edit Table to enter selection mode
  3. Select all the calves you vaccinated
  4. Click Bulk Actions → Add Treatment
  5. Enter the vaccination details once
  6. Confirm — and the treatment is recorded for all selected animals
